Caroling in Langford (Sleepy Goldstream Village, Action-Packed Mall)

On a cold December Saturday afternoon, the Pearson Singers attempt to rise above the sounds of Langford traffic to add Christmas spirit to Goldstream Village. But there was more love and reception at the mega-mall down the way...

For the song Silent Night, is here the Dutch version:
Stille nacht, heilige nacht,
Alles slaapt, sluimert zacht.
Eenzaam waakt het hoogheilige paar,
Lieflijk Kindje met goud in het haar,
Sluimert in hemelse rust
Sluimert in hemelse rust.

Plans for December

Metchosin Christmas Concert, Sunday Dec 4th
Yoomi is down with us doing two pieces for the Christmas concert. I think Ave Verum and Good King Wenceslas are probably the ones to do. A nice balance of serene and kinda-rowdy. We could also do our Cape-Town vamp as a intro if it works out. After all, it was Christmas in Cape Town when I heard them singing it in the mall...

Caroling: Saturday Dec 10th, 1pm-3pm

There is nothing nicer for people out and about during the holiday season to hear the sound of youthful harmony! So we have a bit of work to do in order to fulfill that dream... But we can do it! And it'll be really fun. We'll take the bus in, sing in a few spots, then have hot chocolate at a cafe.

We can discuss at our next meeting whether we want to go to Goldstream Village, or all the way to Victoria, and whether we want to raise money for a charity.

Cape Town Vamp

One thing I noticed on our rainy walk tonight... when we get spread out, we lose our sense of confidence as individual singers, then the whole thing starts to sink like the Titanic. Okay, maybe we're not as powerful as the titanic ...yet

CapeTown Audio

Dans og Drikk

We are probably capable of a better recording, but at least people can use this to practise "singing along" at home...

Laas' Haida Song

This is a recording of the Haida song Laas taught us. When practicing, listen to the beautiful "falls" and cadences of her singing. When we learn another culture's music, we have the chance to learn many things about that culture beyond the notes and rhythms. What else do you hear in this?

Cape Town Video

So we've got the notes and the harmony ...Would someone like to do some investigative work on what these wonderful people from Cape Town are saying? Perhaps Sidingo can help...

Hide and Seek

Hi guys,
I really liked the song Chris showed us during one of our rehearsals called 'Hide and Seek'. This link has everything we need to start learning it including sheet music for SATB and seperate recordings for each. So if you'd like to do this song as a long term project, check out this link: http://www.thejasoneffect.net/hide-and-seek/

Beginning

With the creation of this new blog for the Pearson Singer's activity, we can start communicating without eachother online. Yay! Feel free to post anything. Ideas, name requests (I think the best option right now is 'kelhgusana' I think it was?), notes you'd like to share.. Anything is possible.
